Pinot Gris is a suspected to be a mutation from Pinot Noir and the Gris or Grigio aspect depends on the style of production.  The Italian Grigio should be lighter, fresher and cleaner while the French style (Gris) should be richer, fuller yet still light.

Hawkes Bay in New Zealand provide the prefer environment for Pinot Gris production and this is a classic example.  Mouth filling quince, rock melon and guava characters provide the perfect light summer white.
